It's time for another free pattern! This Halloween pattern was inspired by drawings done on lined paper that make it look like objects are stuck under the lines of the paper or breaking through the lines of the paper. In this piece, spooky creatures are crawling out of a piece of paper. Feel free to change up the words that you stitch alongside these creatures!

There is back stitch on the creatures to give them a sketched look. CLICK HERE for a PDF of the instructions. On the second page of this PDF, it shows/explains what DMC colors and how many strands to use of each color to back stitch.

This piece needs to be stitching on antique white or white fabric to get the effect of the creatures coming out of paper. The piece is 80 stitches (width) by 110 stitches (height) and measures approximately 5" wide by 7" tall when stitched on 32 count linen (over two threads of linen). In order to not lose the effect of the creatures coming out of paper, finish the piece in a way that doesn't show any excess fabric around the stitched piece. Continue the blue lines further to the left and right, and add more to the top and bottom if necessary.

Sadly, I don't have a stitched model of the full piece, but I do have the three creatures stitched separately.
